Work Out with Your Dog!

Sundays, 9/12 - 10/10, 6:30 - 8 pm, $75 for 5 weeks

This is a great way to deepen your bond with your dog and get in shape when the weather starts changing. Come learn exercises you can do with your own body weight to tone and strengthen your muscles, increase your endurance, and improve your balance.

In addition to the direct benefits to you, your dog will also be able to improve body awareness, muscle strength and tone, have better balance on all 4 feet, and decrease the chance of injury.

Stretching for both you and your dog will be demonstrated, along with an explanation of duration and how often to stretch.

Equipment will be provided, or you can bring your own. All exercises have modifications for physical limitations. All fitness levels will be accommodated.

Space is limited to 6 participants. Contact Bobbie (503.329.1235)or come into PetUtopia, or call 503.646.5937, to sign up. Payment in advance is required to hold your place in this class.

 Project Pooch Donations
Although Project POOCH rents kennel space at a state facility, they do not receive government funding so individual support is essential to their program. Any donation, no matter how small, makes a big difference!   Financial support has dropped off significantly during the recession. Help Project Pooch make an impact in the lives of the people and dogs in this great program.  www.pooch.org/

Cat Adoption Team Cat Food Bank Collections
We are still collecting cat food and litter for the CAT (Cat Adoption Team) Cat Food Bank to help cat owners who needed assistance during the economic downturn affecting the country. News reports from across the country paint a depressing picture for pet owners - more pets are relinquished to shelters due to the rising cost of care and some pet owners are forced to feed their animals food directly from their own plate to keep expenses down. This first of its kind food bank is open once a month at CAT’s Sherwood shelter and provides enough cat/kitten food to feed up to four owned cats for a month.  catadoptionteam.org/

PAW Team Veterinary Services
for Portland’s Homeless Community
Food Donations
We are still collecting food donations for this group. They told  told me that PetUtopia is the PAW Team's only source for pet food for the homeless right now. If your dog decides he/she doesn't like their food any longer, pls. bring the remainder of the bag to us, and we will share it with the PAW Team.  Remember, animal companions are a lifeline for people experiencing homelessness, extreme poverty or income-limiting disabilities.  To someone with few resources, a pet is a family member, a source of stability and unconditional love in a cold world. Caring for a pet helps people stay sober and drug-free. Keeping animals on the streets vaccinated and free of disease is also beneficial to the entire community. The PAW Team strives to make life a little bet better for these pets and their caregivers. At their free veterinary "street" clinics, they offer vaccinations and basic health care, pet food and supplies, and coupons for spay/neuter services. Local vet clinics assist with emergency services throughout the year. www.portlandanimalwelfareteam.org

And, last but not least ....

We truly appreciate your continued support in all we do in the community!

Without you we would not have made it to our 4th anniversary.  To see what you, as one person, can do help a community visit the3_50project.net. The numbers are profound.
